G or 9 dry <br />Texture: Fine sand, loamy fine sand, fine sandy loam, averaging finer than <br />loamy fine sand <br />A <br />COMPETING SERIES: There are no competing series. <br />GEOGRAPHIC SETTING: Wahweap soils are on rolling plateaus. These soils <br />formed in eclian sands and sandstone alluvium. Slopes range from b to 16 percent. <br />Elevations range from 3640 to 4400 feet_ Mean annual precipitation is 6 to 10 <br />inches. Mean annual air temperature is 55 to 57 degrees F. Frost - free period is 160 <br />to 184 days, <br />GEOGRAPHICALLY ASSOCIATED SOILS: These are the Pagina and <br />Sheppard series. Pragina soils are moderately deep. Sheppard soo :�€� very deep. <br />DRAINAGE AND PERMEABILITY: Somewhat excessively drained; slaw runoff; <br />moderately rapid permeability. <br />USE AND' VEGETATION- Used mainly for livestock grazing_ Vegetation is <br />mainly blackbrush, Mormon-tea, broom snakeweed, Indian ricegrass, and annuals. <br />DISTRIBUTION AND EXTENT: Northern Arizana. The 111lahweap series is of <br />moderate extent, <br />MLRA OFFICE RESPONSIBLE.
