The
Fruita Mine is an underground coal mine located on private land. The permit was
revoked and the financial warranty forfeited by the State of Colorado in 1994. The site
was reclaimed using the forfeited bond money in 1996, 2000 and 2009. Reclamation
work included grading, erosion controls and revegetation. The project work will include
hand scarification and revegetation on steep slopes and access roads, repairs of
recently installed check dams and installing new check dams. All work will be done by
hand labor.
The Fruita Mine is located approximately 10 miles north of Fruita in Mesa County,
Colorado. Situated in the Bookcliffs, the elevation of the work area is approximately
5,000 feet.
Task 1
Mobilize and Demobilize Crew and Equipment
This task includes those measures necessary and incidental to move equipment and
supplies onto the Project Area, to move equipment within the Project Area during
prosecution of the Project, and to complete any other requirements necessary to perform
this project. This item also includes all labor, equipment, and costs associated with
demobilization and clean -up of the work site following completion of the project.
Specifically included with Task 1 is the CONTRACTORS responsibility to minimize
disturbance to previously reclaimed areas, including mine roads and benches. All of the
areas have been previously reclaimed. Operation of motorized equipment on reclaimed
areas is prohibited.
CONTRACTOR will exercise care to preserve the natural landscape and shall conduct
all operations in a manner which minimizes disturbance and prevents any unnecessary
destruction, scarring, or defacing of the natural surroundings in the vicinity of the work.
All routes for movement of material shall be subject to prior PROJECT MANAGER
approval.
Measurement and Payment
Payment for Task 1 shall be reflected in a lump sum bid price under Item 1 on the
Invitation and Bid sheet. Payment shall include all the CONTRACTORS expenses for
mobilization of equipment to the site, transportation of the equipment within the Project
Area, employee time, labor and materials necessary to accomplish the requirements of
this Task, compliance with the conditions and requirements described in this Task
description, and final clean up of the work place.
If the price bid for mobilization and demobilization is greater than 15 percent (15 %) of
the total contract price, invoices supporting the mobilization costs will be required before
payment is approved.
Payment shall be made as described in Specification 1.0, Mobilization / Demobilization
of the General Bid Specifications, Colorado Inactive Mine Reclamation Program, 2009.
As of 01/08/09
