Measurement and Payment
No measurement for payment shall be made for mobilization and demobilization. A lump sum bid
for mobilization and demobilization shall be reflected under Item 1 of the Bid Schedule. Payment
of two-thirds of the lump sum price will be made with the first monthly progress payment after
completion of the work described above for mobilization. Payment of one-third of the lump sum
price will be made with the final progress payment for the work if demobilization has been
completed. If the price bid for mobilization and demobilization is greater fifteen percent (15%) of
the total contract price, invoices supporting the mobilization costs will be required before payment
is approved.
ITEM 2- SLOPE DRAINAGE CONSTRUCTION
A maximum 3:1 (H:V), eight(8)foot wide, eight (8) foot high drainage course will be constructed
from the staked location in the field upwards to a location which will day-light on the bench. The
drainage will be constructed according to the attached Drawing 1, Slope Drainage Course Cross
Section and Plan View. The bottom of the.drainage course will be lined with a minimum 30"depth
of riprap. Riprap, available on-site,will consist of a combination of 20% minimum 4' diameter rock,
40% minimum 2'to T diameter rock and 40% 12"to 18" rock. The 4' diameter rock will be keyed
into the bottom of the constructed 3:1 channel through excavation placement to not extend above
ground more than 30"high and placed every 20' in slope length. The 12"to IV'rock will be placed
and compacted into the bottom of the excavated channel. The 2'to 3' diameter rock will then be
placed over the smaller rock to fulfill the 30" minimum riprap depth requirement. Placement will
be from the lowest portions progressing upslope. Placement will be such that voids will be
eliminated to the best extent possible with rock contacting rock. Side slopes to the constructed
channel will be at a maximum 3:1 slope. Side slope riprap will consist of an evenly distributed
combination of 50% minimum 24" diameter rock and 500/6 12"to IV' diameter rock. Side slope
riprap will extend up the sides of the constructed channel to a minimum 48" height. Contour
furrows that are eliminated as a result of drainage construction will be reconstructed to tie into the
drainage course, parallel to contour. (Note: the initial method of contour fuffow construction was
by the downward blade action from a smaller dozer that was facing downslope, progressing up
slope towards the bench.)
The highly eroded drainage gully which exists downslope from the staked location to the slope
break at the base of the grade will also be constructed to conform to Drawing 1, Drainage Course
Cross Section.
Material as a result of drainage course construction may be excavated and hauled to a terrace
location located to the north east of the sediment pond as delineated in the field, or placed against
the excavated bench cuts. it is assumed that the terrace location will be used for excavated y
material from the lower portion of the drainage course construction. Prior to depositing excavated
material at either the terracelocation or against the excavated bench cuts, existing vegetation and
soils to a 24" depth will be graded off and stockpiled. Final grade at the terrace location once
hauling has been completed will not exceed a 3:1 slope in any direction. Stockpiled vegetation and
soils will be evenly redistributed over the deposited material from drainage course constructio
upon completion of earthmoving procedures.
7
