PROJECT WORK DESCRIPTION
Task 1
Mobilize and Demobilize Crew and Equipment
Measurement and Payment
Payment for Task 1 shall be reflected in a lump sum bid price under Item 1 on the Invitation and
Bid sheet. Payment shall include all the CONTRACTORS expenses for mobilization of
equipment to the site, transportation of the equipment within the Project Area, employee time,
labor and materials necessary to accomplish the requirements of this Task, compliance with the
conditions and requirements described in this Task description, and final clean up of the work
place.
If the price bid for mobilization and demobilization is greater than 15 percent (15%) of the total
contract price, invoices supporting the mobilization costs will be required before payment is
approved.
Payment shall be made as described in Specification 1.0, Mobilization / Demobilization of the
General Bid Specifications, Colorado Inactive Mine Reclamation Program, 2006.
Task 2
Sediment Pond Maintenance:
The sediment pond was constructed within the margins of the ephemeral stream which drains
through the mine site. The sediment pond is in need of repair in order allow flood waters to
safely pass the existing embankment.
The 30" CMP riser pipe located in the sediment pond will need to be cut and removed at the
base. The 30" CMP pipe and associated items will need to be disposed in an approved landfill
or salvaged by the CONTRACTOR. The underground portion of the 30" pipe will be plugged
with concrete to a length of 4 feet. The concrete shall consist of Type II Portland Cement,
conforming to ASTM C 150, unless otherwise approved by the PROJECT MANAGER.
The existing emergency spillway on the west side of the pond will need to be lowered 2 feet and
lined with rip-rap located on site. The channel will need to remain trapezoidal in shape with
2.5H:1 V side slopes. The spillway dimensions are approximately 50 feet long by 8 feet wide
(bottom width). The spillway will need to be lined with rip-rap for a length of 75 feet along the
inside of the channel and down the pond slope to safely pass flood waters. Rip rap, available on
site, will consist of 12" to 18" diameter rock. Placement will be such that voids will be eliminated
with rock contacting rock. The rock will be keyed in place on the beginning of the spillway to a
depth of 3' feet and spaced every 20 feet with the last key at the end of the spillway. Side slope
rip rap will extend up the sides of the constructed channel to a minimum 4' height.
Measurement and Payment
There will be no measurement for payment of Task 2, Sediment Pond Maintenance. Payment
for this Task will be reflected in a lump sum bid under Item 2 on the Bid Schedule. This lump
sum bid will cover all costs for excavating, hauling, placing and rip-rap lining as described in
- 7 -
