I'Meda <br />New Elk Coal Company, LLC Director <br />122 West First Street <br />Trinidad, CO 81082 <br />Re: Adequacy Review, Technical Revision No. 52 (TR-52) <br />New Elk Mine (Permit No. C-1981-012) <br />Dear Mr. Thompson: <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (DBMS) has completed an initial <br />adequacy review for Technical Revision No. 52 JR-52) for the New Elk Mine. <br />In the second to last paragraph on revised page 2.05.4a, please change the <br />phrase "coal coal" to "clean coal". <br />2. Please provide current volume estimates for existing material on coal stockpiles, <br />including any residual coal, pond cleanings, or any other material or footprint that <br />would need to be transported to a permanent location upon final reclamation. <br />Include in the permit text discussion, along with these estimates of existing material, <br />calculations that show that an additional 10,000 cubic yards of material can be <br />added to the existing volumes and still be below the volumes included in the <br />reclamation cost estimate. <br />If you have questions or need additional information, please contact me. <br />Sincerely, <br />4j? <br />Kent A.
