Processing Waste
The outslopes of the Refuse Pile Expansion (RPE) pile and the Lower Refuse Pile (LRP) showed no
signs of structural instability. The RPE is nearing its maximum designed elevation. Survey markers
were in place on the faces of both piles. Equipment that was stored on top of the LRP has been
removed, and steel H-beam piles were being driven into the top of the LRP for the foundation of the
coal- preparation plant. Construction of the plant was approved in TR-118 and the piles were approved
in MR-363.
Support Facilities
No problems were found in the areas that were inspected: the main facilities area, various Sylvester
Gulch facilities areas, and the train loadout.
Topsoil
Topsoil stockpiles in Sylvester Gulch and the Main Surface Facilities stockpile appeared in good shape
although snow cover limited observations.
Topsoil from the excavation of pond MB-5E has been stored next to the downstream end of the pond
construction site.
General Mine Plan Compliance
The operator appeared to be following the approved mine plan.
Documents Received
None.
4
