III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Sunlight C-1981-046
Pg 1/1 23 March 2010
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken
during the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the Sunlight Mine conducted on 23 March 2010 by
Jim Stark of CDRMS. The permit for the site has been revoked and the reclamation
was completed by the Division. The weather was cold and it was snowing. There
was approximately six inches of snow on the ground at the time of the inspection.
The lower portal are of the mine was inaccessible at the time of the inspection due to
the amount of snow on the ground. An attempt will be made to inspect this part of
the mine (and the portal backfill failure) in April.
Signs and Markers: The Division's revoked mine project sign was along the County
Road at the upper portal location of the site. The sign was in good condition.
Backfilling and Grading: - The regraded upper portal and road area were covered
with approximately six inches of snow at the time of the inspection. Although the
snow was pretty deep, there did not appear to be any maicLr settling or sliding of the
backfill at this time. This area will be inspected again in the late spring/early summer
once the snow has melted for a more complete determination of the sites condition.
This completes the 23 March 2010 inspection of the Sunlight Mine,
