New Elk
Coal Company (NECC) is proposing to temporarily store underground development waste in an
existing raw coal stockpile area.
Specifically, NECC is requesting that the existing raw coal stockpile as shown on permit
Map 11 Surface Facilities and Roads East Portal labeled as Raw Coal Stockpile(#1) be
approved for temporary storage of development waste. The material will be stored in no more
than 2-4ft lifts up to 10,000 cy. The material will be stored for 30 days from first placement of
development waste in temporary storage, or the time required for approval of a permanent
development waste disposal area by DRMS.
NECC is drafting a technical revision submittal for a permanent DWDA south of
Highway 12. This permit revision will be submitted prior to the start of temporary waste storage.
If you require any further information please contact me.
Sincerely,
Rom, rho npjorv
Ron Thompson
Mine Superintendent
Enclosures(4): Application Form
Permit Page 2.05-4, 4a (Revised)
