To: Tom Kaldenbach _
From: Janet Binns i
CC: Dan Her ande
Date: 4/1/2010
Re: Peabody Sage Creek Mine Second adequacy responses
have reviewed Sage Creek Coal LLC's (SCC) response to the Division's February 11, 2010
second Adequacy letter. SCC submitted a response to the Divison on March 18, 2010. The
remaining item of concern that I had was identified as Item 16. My comments follow.
16 c) [Please provide] a summary of past husbandry practices:
i. Weed control measures.
SCC provided a history of weed control measures used at the Seneca II Mine.
History for 2006 and 2009 were provided. Efforts conducted prior to 2006 were
not included. This is acceptable. The record provided for the 2006 weed control
was very detailed and provided excellent information to the Division. The
information for 2009 weed control was less detailed, but was acceptable. No maps
were included with the historical information.
SCC stated that weed control measures were limited to chemical application.
Mowing was not used as a weed management method.
SCC's response is acceptable
