Martin
Executive Director
This letter is notification that the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has
received Permit Revision No. 12 (PR-12) from Bowie Resources LLC (BRL) for the Bowie No.
2 Mine. In PR-12, BRL is proposing to suspend the current mining in the north section of the
permit area and expand mining to the west. The expansion of mining to the west will involve the
transfer of 2,379 acres from the adjacent Bowie No. 1 Mine to the Bowie No. 2 Mine plus the
addition of 57 acres along Terror Creek.
Because of the suspension of mining in the north, longwall mining will not get to within one mile
of the Bruce Park Dam and Terror Creek Reservoir. BRL, however, has stated that they intend to
continue the seismic monitoring program of the Bruce Park Dam and Terror Creek Reservoir for
a while.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Sincerely,
4D ash
Environmental Protection Specialist
c:/word2007/bowie2/pr 12wardlet 1
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
