Box 1849
Grand Junction, Colorado 81502
Re: Surfucial Geology Investigation
Bradbury Pit U `Kannah Creek Hill'
Southeast of Whitewater, Colorado
Dear Mr. Settle,
Tel: (970) 2424968
Fax: (970) 242-1561
gildCn@gj.net
At YOW request, personnel from this office have completed a ground recornnaissmtce of the above referenced site in order
to determine the general geologic conditions and constraints relating to gravel extraction on the site. This was
Performed in a manner so as to be in general compliance with the requirements of C.R.S. 30-28-101 (Senate Bill 55).
Following are our findings,
TRACT L ATTnty ;e. DESrl2r MON
The tract lies in a portion ofnorth half of the southwest Quarter of Section 4, Township 3S, Range 2E ofthe Ute Principal
Meridian, Mesa County, Colorado. The tract is approximately bounded by the Smith Ditch on the north and' south. The
Proposed pit is immediately east of US Highway 50. The tract to be mined contains approximately 20 acres.
The topography of the tract is the crest of an east--west trending ridgenorth and quite steep to the south. The site has an elevation of ' with the ground sloping moderate to steep toward
the
U.S.G.S. 7-1/2 minute approximately 5040 to 5050 feet above sea level, using the ping of the Wbitmater and Juniata Reserv* between Kannah Creels tootthe north and Indian creek to the
south. Colorado
quadrangles. This ridge is located
The site is drained toward the north into Kannah Creels, toward the west into the borrow ditch along U.S. Highway 50 and
to the south into Indian Creek. Surface drainage is considered fair to good and subsurface drainage is fair to poor.
The tract has been used fbr minor animal grazing or limited pasture. Several
gravel to the west of this site, across U.S. Highway 50. Minor amounts of gravel have been atracted.fromvve) are located
of this site and from small tracts adjacent to this site, in years past. The had has not been subject to on-siteeiiff gaff n and ons
is located above the Smith Ditch.
