(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M- 1986 -037
INSPECTION DATE: 3 -23 -10 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection is conducted as part of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety normal
monitoring program. Inspectors Russ Means and Dustin Czapla visited the site unescorted. CDOT personnel were
unavailable due to other commitments to accompany the inspectors.
The BLM- Olathe Pit is located on the east side of Transfer Road and 5425 Road. The mine identification sign is in
place and in compliance with Rule 3.1.12. The sign is located on a rock at the entrance to the site where it enters the
permit boundary. Permit boundaries are marked by t -posts and large rock barriers that are easily identifiable.
The site is for intermittent use by the Department of Transportation for road repairs in the area. No recent signs of
activity are observed. No equipment is on site. There are no stockpiles of noteworthy materials, just some small
truck load size boulder piles.
No reclamation efforts have been undertaken. However, due to the small :nature of the disturbance area and
topography this is not an issue. No noxious weeds are noted. No erosion or sedimentation issues are observed.
While not an issue currently, CDOT needs to be careful that trash and other materials do not become deleterious to
the permitted area. A large concrete block is noted intermingled with natural stone as well as some bale wire and
other trash. The inspector also notes dead animal carcasses from hunters. While not CDOT's doing, the debris does
have an overall negative impact on the permit area and should be monitored so it does not become a trash dump for
others.
No issues or problems noted at this time.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Reclamation, Mining, and
Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no.
970 -241 -1117.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Jason Smith
OPERATOR: CDOT
STREET: 222 S. 6' St. RM 317
CITY /STATE /ZIP: Grand Junction, CO 81501
cc:
❑ CE
❑ BLM: Uncompahgre Field Office
❑ FS
❑ HW
❑ HMVATMD (CH)
❑ WQCD (CH)
❑ OTHER:
