• <br />Surface Water <br />There are two NPDES sites at the Loadout, 001 and 002 (aka, NPDESIH and <br />NPDES2H). NPDESIH and NPDES2H both flowed only in March and April this <br />year, as a result of snowmelt. NPDES water quality reports for this year <br />are presented in Appendix B. Data provided includes a water quality <br />report for this year, remarks, a flow hydrograph for all data since <br />1993, and a regression plot of historic total dissolved solids (TDS) <br />data. No NPDES effluent limits were exceeded this year. <br />A new NPDES permit went into effect on July 10, 2008. The major changes <br />in this new permit were: 1) monitoring frequencies for most parameters <br />is now twice a month (was weekly in the previous permit), 2) monitoring <br />of total iron and total manganese was dropped and 3) monitoring of total <br />recoverable iron was added. <br />Surface water quality reports for this year are presented in Appendix B. <br />Data provided includes a water quality report for this year, remarks, a <br />flow hydrograph for all data since 1993, and a regression plot of <br />historic total dissolved solids (TDS) data. Site HGSD1 is upstream of <br />the Loadout. Site HGSD3 is downstream of the Loadout. <br />Table 3 provides a comparison of this year's surface water quality to <br />CDPHE receiving stream standards for Dry Creek (Yampa Segment 13d, <br />Regulation No. 33, January 2009). This Paradox database generated table <br />does not include the units of concentration (mg/1 or ug/1) for each <br />parameter. The units used for each parameter are the same as those <br />listed on the Surface Water Parameter List (Table 1) and are also the <br />same as those used in the water quality reports. The frequency column on <br />Table 3 indicates the number of exceedances out of the total number of <br />samples (i.e., 1/2 indicates one exceedance out of two samples). Below <br />is a summary of standards that were exceeded. <br />For downstream Site HGSD3, the total recoverable iron standard (1.0 <br />mg/1) was exceeded in June with a value of 1.14 mg/l. Neither NPDES site <br />was discharging at the time. <br />2
