Annual Report
PERMITEE NAME
PERMIT NO:
OPERATION NAME:
ANNIVERSARY DATE:
ANNUAL FEE DUE:
COUNTY:
The Regents of the University of Colorado
M-1981-302
Deepe Farm Pit
April 20, 2010
$791.00
Boulder
From April, 2009 thru March, 2010, no additional mining or reclamation
activities have occurred on the Deepe Farm Pit mining area with the
exception of on-going weed management, as needed. Cattle grazing
activities have occurred on a portion of the pit site which has assisted in
keeping weeds under control. The University contracted for the services
of a goat herder to herd goats on portions of the property to assist in weed
management. These activities have proven to be very successful in the
management of weeds on the property.
The grasses on the property are thriving and weeds continue to be a
manageable issue on this Deepe Farm Pit site. Plant growth that had
been occurring at the edges of the levee embankment was largely
eliminated as per FEMA requirements.
In 2010-11, there.are no plans to disturb areas remaining within this
permit. However, if during our regular inspections we identify areas where
vegetative cover is sparse, re-seeding will occur as needed. On-going
weed management will also be undertaken, as appropriate. The
University.may continue grazing the site during the next year subject to
receiving adequate moisture to ensure the proper growth of vegetation.
No other activities are anticipated.
The University of Colorado has attached a check in the amount of $791.00
to cover the cost of the annual fee.
We have attached a map delineating the current mining site area.
