• SENECA II-W MINE
2009 ANNUAL RECLAMATION REPORT
2009 DISTURBANCE AREA
There were no additional acres disturbed during 2009. The total disturbance is 1,381.9 acres. This acreage is
reflected on the CDRMS Annual Report Form and is discussed in the text of the following report. The
attached 2009 Reclamation maps portray the physical disturbance boundaries but do not include or show the
96.6 acres associated with the Tie-Across Haul Road.
BACKFILLING AND GRADING
There were 0.8 acres graded in 2009.
TOPSOIL AND SPOIL MONITORING
SCC is required by Permit C-82-057 to monitor the salvage, storage, and redistribution of topsoil and spoil
handling operations at the Seneca II-W Mine. Only 0.8 acres of backfilling/grading (topsoil stockpiles and
the small area by shop fuel tank storage) and 0.0 acres of topsoil replacement were conducted during 2009,
therefore no monitoring was conducted.
• Topsoil Recovery Documentation
There was no additional topsoil recovered during 2009.
• 0 2009 Topsoil Replacement Thickness
There was no topsoil replaced; therefore no topsoil thickness samples were collected in 2009.
• Soil Pit - Topsoil Fertility/Spoil Suitability
No topsoil fertility or spoil suitability samples were collected in 2009.
• Topsoil Balance
SCC submitted a topsoil balance with permit Revision 04 (dated 9/04). The topsoil balance has not been
revised since Seneca II-W is reclaimed except for roads and facilities areas.
Topsoil Salvage and Storage. No topsoil was salvaged during 2009. The life-of-mine disturbance from
which topsoil was salvaged (1,381.9 acres) and the topsoil stockpile sites as of December 31, 2009 are shown
the 2009 Topsoil Replacement map.
The remaining stockpile volumes as of December 31, 2009 are listed in Table 09.1, Topsoil Stockpile
Volumes. As of the end of 2009, 75.5 acre-feet of topsoil remain stockpiled in the mining area and 73.1 acre-
feet of topsoil are stockpiled along the Tie-Across Haul Road.
Topsoil Replacement. No topsoil was replaced during 2009. Therefore, the total remaining mine
disturbance area requiring topsoil (as of December 31, 2009) is 84.1 acres.
• Topsoil Replacement Thickness. The overall topsoil replacement thickness for the II-W disturbed area
was originally projected to be 1.3 feet for the mine area and 0.7 feet for the Tie-Across Haul Road. The
topsoil balance for the remaining disturbed was calculated as follows:
