NMD (Panels 12 -Right through 16- Right, PR 99 -05)
TCC will continue to mine the reserves it controls in the Twentymile Park Basin. The mine moved operations into
• the NMD as shown on Map 23, Mine Plan Map. TCC controls all of the coal required to mine in this area. TCC
projects annual coal production at up to 10 million tons per year.
TCC uses the longwall mining method as the primary technique for assuring maximum recovery of the resource. In
the NMD, plans call for a 1,000 -foot wide face, with panel lengths ranging from approximately 13,600 to 17,000
feet. The gate- roads, main and sub -mains will be developed by continuous miner, as is the current practice.
NMD (14 -Right Gate -road Alternate Location, MR O1 -171)
TCC evaluated whether or not the 1,000 -foot wide face could be increased to approximately 1,200 feet or wider. In
general, the outcome of the evaluation limited the face width to something less than 1,200 feet. In order to
accommodate the uncertainty associated with this evaluation, and initiate the start of the gate -road, an area is shown
in red on Map 23 and 23 B for potential areas in which the 14 Right Gate -road will be started.
NMD (Panels 17 -Right through 21- Right, PR03 -06)
The mine continues its operation into the NMD as shown on Map 23, Mine Plan Map. TCC has projected annual
coal production to increase from the current levels to a maximum of approximately 12 million tons per year.
TCC uses the longwall mining method as the primary technique for assuring maximum recovery of the resource. In
Panels 17- through 21- Right, mining continued in the NMD during this permit term with a 1,000 -foot wide panel
and panel lengths ranging from approximately 10,900 to 15,700 feet. The gate - roads, main and sub -mains were
developed by continuous miner, as is the current practice.
• NMD (Panels 21 -Right through 24 -Right (24 -Right Partial), PR06 -07)
The mine will continue its operations to the geologic /economic limits of the NMD as shown on Map 23, Mine Plan
Map. TCC projects ongoing annual coal production of up to approximately 12 million tons per year.
TCC uses the longwall mining method as the primary technique for assuring maximum recovery of the resource. In
Panels 21- through 24- Right, mining will continue in the NMD during this permit term with a 1,000 -foot wide
panel and panel lengths ranging from approximately 9,500 to 15,700 feet. The gate- roads, main and sub -mains will
be developed by continuous miner, as is current practice.
WESTERN MINING DISTRICT (WMD)
WMD (Panels 12- through 20 -Left, and 13- and 14 -Left Inby, PR06 -07, PR09 -08, TR07 -63, TR08 -64, TR09-
68, TR09 -71)
TCC will continue to mine the reserves it controls in the Twentymile Park Basin. Preliminary (Phase 1)
development of the WMD was initiated under PR06 -07 and TR07 -63 to facilitate extension of mine ventilation and
support facilities for both the northern portion of the NMD, and the new WMD into the Northern Mining District as
shown on Map 23, Mine Plan Map. TCC controls all of the coal required to mine in these areas. TCC projects
annual coal production at up to 12 million tons per year. In preparation for future mining in the WMD, TCC has
proceeded with initial (Phase I) Phase II, and Interim Phase III development of the main and sub -main entries for
Panels 13 -Left through 17 -Left, as shown on the Mine Plan Map, Map 23. Phase I through Interim Phase III
development will result in extension of development in the 18 -, and 17 -Left gate -roads to their furthest western
limit, partial development of the 16 -, 15 -, 14, and 13 -Left gate- roads, and full development of the 97' and 10 -North
• Mains. Development of the 18 -, and 17 -Left gate -roads will extend into the new Federal coal lease (COC- 72980)
at the western edge of the WMD. Full development and longwall mining under PR09 -08 will extend development
TR09 -71 2.05 -2.1 11/18/09
