The report by Ferguson, 1989, is primarily a restatement of the resources defined by
Fominyah, 1936, as confirmed by further work in the 1980's.
Table 1. Idaho -May Day property historical reserve estimates
GEOLOGIC SETTING
District Setting
The May Day mine is but one of a large number of precious metal mines
occurring in the La Plata Mountains within the La Plata mining district, also
known as the California district. The La Plata Mountains lie at the southwestern
limit of the Colorado Mineral Belt (Figure 3). Most of Colorado's gold deposits
occur within the Colorado Mineral Belt, with the notable exception of Cripple
Creek. This northeast - alignment of Colorado mining districts was first recognized
by Josiah Spurr in his 1908 study of the Georgetown - Silver Plume district, and
reported in a paper co- authored with George Garrey, an influential early geologist
at the May Day mine.
is January 2007 May Day — Idaho Mine Colorado
