Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
Re: Topaz Mine, Permit No. M-1980-055 HR, Temporary Cessation (Revision TC-2), Approved.
Dear Ms. Woodward,
On March 9, 2010, this office received your responses to the adequacy review letter, and determined that the
request for revising the permit status of the Topaz Mine to temporary cessation (TC) to be adequate for
approval. The revision TC-2 was approved on March 10, 2010. (Please note: I mistakenly referred to this
revision as TC-1 in my last letter; it is actually TC-2, since this is the second time that this permit has been
approved for temporary cessation. I apologize for any confusion.)
There is no revision of the bond amount associated with this revision.
Please be reminded that this initial period of temporary cessation may continue for up to five years. You
should notify this office if the site is activated during this period, or request an extension if additional time is
desired. During the period of temporary cessation the site must be maintained in a stable condition.
If you have any questions, I may be contacted at the Division's Durango field office: 691 CR 233, Room A-
2, Durango, CO 81301.
Sincerely,
p? 0 Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
C: Steve Shuey, DRMS
James Blair, BLM, Dolores office
(c:\10-03 docs\topaz tc02 appr/rco)
Office of
Office of Active and Inactive Mines
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction Durango
