The Division has completed review of the 2009 Annual Reclamation Report (ARR) for
the New Elk mine.
1. Two technical revisions to the permit were approved in 2009; TR-50 which
incorporated the two Apache Canyon ventilation shafts back into the New Elk
permit area, and TR-51 which approved the excavation at the West Mine to
repair a collapsed portal slope. TR-50, as approved, increased the mine
disturbed area total by two (2) acres and TR-51 increased the disturbed acre
total by .5 acre. Please add 2.5 acres to the "disturbed- this calendar year"
category, the "disturbed-cumulative total" category, the "entire life of
mine" category, and the "long-term mining or reclamation facility" category
on the ARR form. Please also submit the appropriate maps showing these
three areas.
Other information as reported in consistent with Division field inspection throughout the
year. The Division notes the continuing weed control efforts as identified by specific
map area in part H of the report.
Please re-submit the corrected information, as noted above, within thirty (30) days. If
