Township 5 North, Range 87 West of the 6`h P.M. <br />Section 1: W%2 and portions of the E''/2; <br />Section 2: All; <br />Section 3: All; <br />Section 4: All; <br />Section 5: E'/2E'/z; <br />Section 8: E'/zE'/z; <br />Section 9: All; <br />Section 10: All; <br />Section 11: All; <br />Section 12: S''/z, portions of the NW'/4 and portions of the <br />S'/ZNE'/4; <br />Section 13: N''/2; <br />Section 14: All; <br />Section 15: All; <br />Section 16: NE'/4, NE'/4SE%4, S'/zSE'/4, portions of the <br />NW'/4 SE'A and portions of the NW'/4; <br />Section 21: E''/z; <br />Section 22: N''/2 and the W%2SW'/4. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are also shown on USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle maps of <br />Milner, Mount Harris, Rattlesnake Butte, and Duckley. <br />The proposed Sage Creek Mine is in the foothills of the Williams Fork Mountains and south of <br />the Yampa River. Topography in the proposed permit area ranges from 6,600 to 7,800 feet <br />above mean sea level and averages approximately 7,040 feet. The terrain varies from rolling <br />hills with agricultural fields and rangeland in the northwestern, central, and extreme southern <br />portions and adjacent to high ridges and steep slopes within the eastern and southwestern <br />portions. Vegetation in the proposed permit area is dominated by three cover types: 1) <br />Sagebrush/ Grassland dominated by big sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata ), mountain snowberry <br />(Symphoricarpos rotundifolius), with occasional inclusions of silver sage (Artemisia cana); 2) <br />Mountain Brush dominated by Saskatoon serviceberry (Amelanchier alnifolia), chokecherry <br />(Padus virginana var melanocarpa), mountain snowberry (Symphoricarpos rotundifolius) and <br />Gambel's oak (Quercus gambelii); and 3) Mined / Reclaimed Land consisting of a mix of <br />introduced and native warm and cool season grasses and introduced and native perennial forbs. <br />The most significant drainage in the proposed permit area is Grassy Creek which is a perennial <br />stream entering the proposed permit area in the southwest and flowing north through the <br />proposed permit area into the Yampa River. There are several other small unnamed drainages <br />that cross the proposed permit area which generally flow north and feed into Grassy Creek. <br />All of the surface facilities to support the underground mining operations will be located on part <br />of the reclaimed Seneca II Mine, Colorado State permit C-1980-005.
