The report of that inspection will be mailed to you under separate cover. There were numerous other issues we
discussed during the inspection, many of which are technical adequacy issues and are repeated in the following
paragraphs. Please provide responses to each item below, and identify each according to the exhibit to which it
pertains. Portions of the application and its exhibits that are considered adequate at this time do not appear in this
letter.
Exhibit C - Pre-mining and Mining Plan Maps (Rule 6.4.3)
Maps C.2 and C.3 show fencelines within 200 feet of the east and north sides of the proposed area to be added to the
permitted area, an irrigation ditch crossing the permitted area, and overhead power along the east and south sides of the
site. These are all considered significant structures. Item "g" identifies only a "pole barn" in the present staging area,
but lists no other structures on or within 200 feet of the permitted area. Please revise the text to include brief
description of each of these structures. Also, be sure to adequately describe these, and any other such structures, in
Exhibit S.
Map C.3 shows the boundaries of the existing mining phases and the three new mining phases, but no additional
information about the mining plan, though it is required. Please provide a revised map that includes any onsite access
roads to the phases, arrows showing the direction of mining.in each phase, delineation of areas that will be mined and
not mined, and stockpiling and/or processing areas, as appropriate. It is recommended that a series of mining maps is
submitted to show the sequence of mining in the several phases. This will allow the following necessary items to be
shown: stockpiled topsoil and overburden in each phase, advancing highwall slopes and the final slopes, setbacks (if
any) from the edges of the phases, etc.
Please ensure that all revised maps are signed and dated. In regards to the map revisions, it may be useful to refer to
the map standards found in Rule 6.2.1(2).
Exhibit D - Mining Plan (Rule 6.4.4)
Please state where mining will begin and in which direction it will proceed, for each phase. All details that appear in
the text of this exhibit should correlate to items included in the Mining Map(s) of Exhibit C.
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
