STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION, MINING AND SAFETY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Phone: (303) 866-3567
FAX: (303) 832-8106
April 24, 2008
Graham Roberts
Trapper Mining Inc.
P.O. Box 187
Craig, CO 81626
RE: Trapper Mine (Permit No. C-1981-010)
2008 Annual Hydrology Report Review
Dear Mr. Roberts,
COLORADO
D I V I S ION OF
RECLAMATION
MINING
- SL -
SAFETY
Bill Ritter, Jr.
Governor
James B. Martin
Executive Director
The Division has completed its review of the above referenced report received on 17 Mar 2009. The
Division finds the 2008 Annual Hydrology Report (AHR) in compliance of the following Rules:
Rule 4.05.13(4)(a) - The data compiled in the 2008 AHR is kept and maintained at the Routt County
Court House.
Rule 4.05.13(4)(c) - The 2008 AHR is in compliance of this rule, as the report was received by the
Division on 17 March 2009. According to Sections 4.8.5.1 and 4.8.5.2 of the permit the AHR must be
filed by March 15.
Rules 4.05.13(4)(c)(i), (ii), (iii) - The 2008 AHR identifies the water quality data obtained during the
2008 water year. This includes data from each monitoring site. The AHR included interpretation of
the data and related impacts to the hydrologic balance.
Following is a review as per the predicted probable hydrologic consequences based on the base line
predictions in the Trapper Mine permit found in section 4.8.3. Predictions appear to be accurate and
meet the operator's obligations.
1. PHC: Higher total suspended solids (TSS) levels are expected in the surface water runoff.
Where elevated total dissolved solids (TDS) levels exist in the backfill aquifer, elevated
TDS levels will be exhibited in base flows derived from the backfilled aquifer. The post-
mine values of pH in surface water runoff are not expected to be significantly lower or
higher than present or pre-mine levels. During base flow conditions for surface water
runoff, some water quality constituents may exhibit elevated concentrations in areas
where backfilled aquifers contribute to surface water flows through soil springs (PAP
page 4-234).
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction Durango Active and Inactive Mines
