(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-2004-038
INSPECTION DATE: 02/17/2010 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: THM
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division
of Reclamation, Mining and Safety. The West Johnson Draw Pit is located 1 miles west of Rangely, Colorado
off of RBC Road No. 2. The site is a 110c operation. Stan Rasmussen and Clint Chappell both representing Rio
Blanco County accompanied the inspector(s) during the inspection.
A sign was observed at the entrance of the mine site but it is not compliant with Rule 3.1.12(1). According to
Rule 3.1.12(1) the following must be visible on the sign: The name of the operator; a statement that a
reclamation permit for the operation has been issued by the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board; and the
permit number. Please post legible a sign at the site that meets the criteria of Rule 3.1.12 and provide photo-
documentation of its placement to this office no later than the date indicated on the last page of this report. This
is not seen as a problem but the sign needs to be legible. The permit boundaries are comprised of fence posts
that are easily identifiable around the entire perimeter of the mine.
The mine is active and a loader and trucks were operating at the east end of the site during the inspection.
Various stockpiles of construction material were observed during the inspection. Due to the amount of snow
present at the site an assessment of the revegetative success was not possible.
No evidence.of erosion or off site damage was observed during the inspection.
Photos that show the conditions observed during the inspection are included at the end of this report.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Travis Marshall at the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado
81501, phone no. 970-241-2042.
I & E Contact Address cc:
NAME: David P.
