T HARRY AKA Tno--
c?„ caV~?x ?r.0
8 Irwin Street Gunnison, CO 81230
Phone: (970) 641-3398
jjbarry ®roadrunner.com
Wayne R. Giesy Feb. 20, 2010
Midas Mining Company Inc.
PO Box 772
Philomath OR 97370-0772
Dear Wayne,
As requested I reviewed the draft Technical Revision (TR-01) Weed Control Plan for the Ophir
Lode Permit M2001-063.
Item 3 describes the type and amount of chemicals that will be used to control noxious weeds
Canada thistle and Yellow toadflax. On the ground evaluation will play a big part in the
selection of the most appropriate chemical to use for control. Any chemical used will be in
accordance with its label.
Chemicals we plan to use are: Milestone at a rate of 7 Oz/Acre for control of Canada thistle.
Yellow toadflax is a tougher deal. We treat a lot of it each year and the favored mix is Tordon
22K at 2 Quarts/Acre mixed with Telar at 1 Oz/Acre. These are the two chemicals
recommended by Dr. George Beck at CSU and the ones we have had the best success with.
Neither of the two plants will likely be eliminated with one season's treatment, or perhaps even
brought under control. Our company is prepared to do continue treatment for as long as
necessary and requested. This will also include monitoring to determine progress toward
elimination as requested by the State of Colorado in their letter of Jan. 13, 2010.
I have enjoyed visiting with you on the phone and look forward to meeting, and working, with
you on the ground this summer.
J.
