Broadcast seeding will be <br />used for areas where drill seeding is not practicable. <br />(iv) Mulching Techniques <br />A straw mulch will be used to provide surface protection and store moisture <br />during the first growing season. The application rate will be about 4,000 <br />pounds per acre. Only clean grain straw that is free of noxious or problem <br />weeds will be used. The straw will be anchored by mechanical crimping, <br />polypropylene erosion control netting or with one of the various tackifying <br />agents available on the market. <br />(v) Irrigation and Weed Control <br />Use of the planting and mulching methods specified above will result in <br />satisfactory plant establishment, barring abnormally dry conditions.
