• 2.05.3 <br />Five rock entries were driven in the B -East mains to cross the fault in the B- <br />Seam. The entries were be supported as necessary to assure safety of the <br />miners and to assure any debris within the fault plane is supported in place <br />and not allowed to cave or flow into the mine. <br />Mining advanced through the fault in the D -Seam and longwall panels WD1, <br />WD2 and WD3 were mined with no significant problems. Longwell mining <br />faces will be developed about 850 feet wide and will vary in length from 2800 <br />to 6200 feet. Gates entries will typically be developed with three entries with <br />pillar spacing and size designed to provide maximum support for ventilation <br />and belt haulage. Bleeder entries will be developed with four or more <br />entries. <br />The new unit train loadout is located south of the UPRR mainline. The <br />Terror Creek Loadout and its associated activities are located north of the <br />UPRR mainline. Therefore, the Operator and the Terror Creek Loadout will <br />not have overlapping permit areas. <br />Mining is currently ongoing in the B -Seam. Panel B-8 is being mined. <br />Development for panel B -9 is complete. Mining in the B -8 and B -9 panels <br />has encountered higherthan normal methane concentrations. The Operator <br />is having difficultly dealing with the methane in the sealed areas and in the <br />longwall gob areas. Beginning late in 2009, nitrogen will be generated on the <br />surface a piped down the Hubbard Creek Shaft through the D -Seam <br />dewatering pipeline. Nitrogen will be piped to and injected into problem <br />areas in orderto dilute methane concentrations. The nitrogen generatorwill <br />run intermittently as required to supply necessary nitrogen to the mine. <br />The extent of mining in the B-8 and B -9 panels has been substantially <br />reduced because of adverse mining conditions. Panels B -10 and B -11 will <br />not be developed in the eastern mining district. Reduced coal recovery in <br />northeast mining district results in all resources being moved to the <br />remaining coal reserves located to the west. The west reserves are located <br />west of Terror Creek and were previously defined as the Bowie No. 1 mine <br />east thick coal pod. These reserves were not mined from the Bowie No. 1 <br />mine because of the June 1986 mine fire. <br />• PR -12 2.05-7- 02110 <br />
