Grand junction <br />C O L O R A D O <br />PUBLIC WORKS <br />& PLANNING <br />February 18, 2010 <br />Annual Report for the Riverside Parkway <br />111 Permit Number M- 2007 -005 <br />The following report outlines the site operations conducted at this borrow site location during 2009. <br />Mining Operations: <br />No mining operations occurred during 2009. Mining of the borrow source was conducted from January to June <br />of 2007. This included excavation, loading, and hauling of on site materials. The borrow materials were placed <br />in the bridge abutment fills located at the 5 1 Street and the Riverside Parkway. Minor mining operations were <br />completed from June until September 2007. All mining operations have been completed at the site. <br />Reclamation Operations: <br />Grading of the site to its final contours was completed in 2008. Additionally, 3,079 cubic yards of class A organic <br />compost material was hauled to the site during 2008. During the summer of 2009 additional compost was <br />brought to the site, bringing the total to 6,000 cubic yards. <br />The major phase of the reclamation activity was completed during November of 2009 (refer to the attached <br />map). The compost was evenly spread across the site to a depth of 2 to 2 %z inches. Then the compost was <br />incorporated into the top 4 inches of existing soil by means of tilling and disking, creating an even and loose <br />seedbed. Fertilizer with an 18 -46 -0 composition was applied at a rate of 250 pounds per acre, and additional <br />humate was applied at a rate of 800 pounds per acre. Both materials were applied to the entire site. Native <br />seeding was then planted by means of a seed drill, at the rate of 25'/: pounds of live seed per acre. Following <br />this, weed free straw was blown and crimped into place at a rate of 2 tons per acre and additionally secured by <br />the application of a mulch tackifier at the rate of 200 pounds per acre. <br />If the native seeding successfully establishes during 2010, the site will have achieved final stabilization and the <br />City will request reclamation responsibility release at that time. <br />Storm water management operations: <br />The current storm water management measures are being maintained at the site.
