They <br />highlight sal imitations tut affect various land uses and provide infcrmsfion about <br />the properties of the soft in the survey areas. Sol su nwp are designed for many <br />different users, Including fanners, ranchers. mss, agronomists. urban planners, <br />community officio, engineers, developers, builders. and home buyers. Also, <br />conservationists, teachers, students, and specialists in recreation, waste disposal, <br />and pollution control can usethe surveys to help them understand, protein orenhance <br />the environment. <br />Various land use regulations of Federal. State, and brat governments may impose <br />special restrictions on hand use or land treatment Sod surveys identify sof pmperties <br />that are used in makwg various land use or land treatment decisiormL The Information <br />is intended to help the land users iderhtity and reduce the effects of soil fNmitations on <br />various land uses. The landowner or user is responsible for identifying and complying <br />with existing laws and regulations. <br />Alttnough so survey Information can be used for general farm. local. and wider area <br />planning, on site investigation is needed to supplemerd this information in some cases. <br />Examples indude sod testy assessmarits (hapAsofs.ursda.govW and certain <br />conservation and engineering applications. State agencies including the Agncuhual <br />Experiment Stations. and local agencies. The Natural Resources Conservation <br />Service (NRCS) has whip for the Federal Pat of the National Cooperative Sal <br />Survey. <br />Information about souls is updated periodically. Updated information is available <br />through the MRCS Sal Deft Mart web sit@ or the MRCS Web Soil Survey.
