EXHIBIT 7, ITEM 14, PART Q
SOUTH TAYLOR HAUL ROAD DITCH
The location of the South Taylor Haul Road Ditch is presented on Figure 1. The design of the
South Taylor Haul Road is further described on Map 25C. The ditch will run parallel to the road
centerline along the entire length of the haul road along the western edge of the road. This side
of the road is almost entirely in a cut slope.
The appropriate design storm for this ditch is the 10 year, 24 hour event. The road is assumed to
have a slight crown over the centerline thus resulting in half of the running surface shedding
water eastward over the fill slope and half of the running surface contributory to the South
Taylor Haul Road Ditch. The entire cut slope is also contributory to the ditch, as is a portion of
undisturbed area to the west as shown on Figure 1. The ditch will collect runoff from these areas
and direct these flows back to the active pit.
Because the road ditch will be constructed in rock, and given the depths of the cut slopes, it is
reasonable to assume the completed ditch will be non - erodible. The overall slope of the ditch is
approximately 8 percent and the length is about 4,630 feet.
One SEDCAD analysis is attached. This is based on a 10 year, 24 hour design event. A
triangular (V type) ditch is proposed with 3H: IV side slopes and a total depth of 3 feet. For this
ditch, the design storm generated a peak flow of about 10.1 cfs and a total runoff volume of 0.79
acre -feet. A total depth of flow of 0.63 feet resulted.
Exh. 7 -14Q -1 Revision Date: 06/12/09
Revision No.: TR -76
