RULE 2 PERMITS
z~.. _____, .. ~__ =- -_ -_ _. __u__._ _ _ __._ ~.._ _.__ ~~__~. _ ~ ~_. ~,__.__,
• 2.05.3 (6) Overburden
The complete description of the removal, handling and storage of all overburden material within the
permit area is described under the Production, Methods and Equipment Section found at the beginning of
Section 2.05.3.. The spoil handling procedures and spoil monitoring plan parameters for the operation
can be found on page 2.05-8 of Volume 1. The mining sequence for the planned operation is shown on
the Mine Plan Map (Map 23A). Cross sections showing the mining operation during the "steady-state"
operation aze found on the Mining Range Diagram (Map 24B). The spoil disposal locations and volumes
for both the East and West Taylor valley fills and the temporary overburden stockpile, please refer to Map
35A. The cross-sections that are associated with the design of the valley fills and the temporary stockpile
can be found on Map 40A.
Permanent Valley fill construction and design criteria is described in detail in section 4.09 of the South
Taylor pennit revision
The temporary overburden stockpile that is to be built on the regraded surface of the section 16 pit is
shown on the above mentioned maps and is placed in a stable location that will not exceed a 33%
slope to ensure stability. The spoil suitability and special handling procedures are described in detail
in section 2.05.3(1) of the South Taylor permit revision. The initial development of the stockpile is
anticipated to begin during the year 2008 with continued development occurring over the next Sve to
eight years of operation. As for the design of the temporary overburden stockpile, it will be
constructed in 50 foot lifrs by use of trucks, dozers and loaders. The side slope of the active dump
will not exceed a 1.3h:1v overall slope and will be maintained during active times of operation.
Maintenance techniques will consist of blading of roads and ramps, along with the use of dust control
• during active times of operation. During construction a dozer will be used develop and spread the
end-dumps created by the trucks, this will be the primary method used to build the temporary
overburden stockpile. Sediment control will be implemented to ensure adequate containment of
potential runoff throughout the life of the operation. Temporary seeding may be employed during
inactive times of operations on the temporary stockpile to reduce the erosion potential. Following
the completion of mining, this temporary overburden stockpile will be removed and placed back into
the open pit. The area that was disturbed in conjunction with this stockpile will be reclaimed in
accordance the procedures outlined in the reclamation plan.

Sou[h Taylor/Lower Wilson -Rule 2, Page 99 Revision Date: 3/30/07
Revision 230.: PR-02
