MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID#: M-1977-141 PAGE: 3
INSPECTION DATE: 1-11-10 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ACS
determined that effective best management practices for storm water
have been installed and are being maintained at this quarry. It is to
be expected that South St. Vrain Creek carries a substantial sediment
load during and following rain events, but little or no sediment is
being contributed from the affected land of the quarry.
The quarry was inactive at the time of this inspection. The operator
reports that the only activities in 2009 were maintenance and hauling
approximately 1200 tons out of stockpile. The quarry was in full
production in 2008. The operator has no firm schedule at this time for
resumption of production. Therefore, the Division will require that
the operator file a notice of temporary cessation under Rule 1.13 of
the Mineral Rules and Regulations (2 CCR 407-4). The Notice must be
retroactive to January 1, 2009. See PB-2 on page four of this report.
The operator may continue to haul out of stockpile and conduct other
quarry activities while under temporary cessation. The requirement for
temporary cessation notice is to toll the time until commencement of
full reclamation is required or full scale production resumes.
The entrance sign at the quarry does not meet the requirements of Rule
3.1.12 in that it does not display the name of the operator nor the
correct mined land reclamation permit number. A correct sign must be
installed. See PB-3 on page four of this report.
cc: Kathy Rosow, Water Quality Control Division (via email)
Larry Quinn (via email)
Inspection & Enforcement Contact Address
NAME Connie Davis
OPERATOR Aggregate Industries - WCR, Inc.
STREET 1707 Cole Blvd., Suite 100
CITY/STATE/ZIP Golden, CO 80401
