MANAGEMENT
On behalf of Bowie Resources, LLC, (BRL), enclosed is an application for a technical
revision to provide for the installation of thirteen additional gob vent holes. The new
gob vent holes are located in the northern portion of the mining area in and around
Sheep Corral and Dove Gulches. Eleven of the thirteen gob vent holes require light use
roads.
Right of Entry
All of the drill sites are located on USDA-FS managed surface. Right of entry is granted
by BRL's Federal Coal lease subject to analysis of impacts by the surface management
agency.
Affected and Disturbed Area
The new drill sites and roads will disturb approximately 22.5 acres of which 5.8 acres
are within the affected area. The remaining 16.7 acres are outside of the affected area
boundary.
In order to minimize disturbance, BRL plans to drill two gob vent holes from four of the
drill sites through directional drilling. In order to perform the directional drilling, larger
than normal drill sites are required. A new typical drill pad drawing (Map 36b) was
prepared to show the 150' by 200' drill pad. Calculations are also provided to size the
silt fence for the drill site.
Cultural Resources
See Volume VI, Cultural Resources, item 12.
