III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Munger Canyon Mine conducted by Mike Boulay of the
DRMS Grand Junction Field Office on February 10, 2010. There was no operator/representative
from Munger Canyon Mine present during the inspection. Weather conditions were sunny and
cold. The ground was entirely snow covered.
Roads
Due to very poor road conditions the mine site was inaccessible. The mine site access road off of
Highway 139 was deemed unsafe to travel on due to snow packed and icy conditions. An
attempt was made to access the mine site but it was determined to be unsafe to drive very far
beyond the turnoff onto the dirt access road (see attached photo below). There was no activity at
the mine site and no problems were noted with this inspection.
Signs and Markers
The Mine and Permit identification sign was properly displayed and maintained at the entrance
to the permit area from Highway 139.
wr
Mine site access off Highway 139.
