This revision is to add an emergency generator system for the mine ventilation fans as
required by the Mine Safety and Health Administration to provide back-up power to the forced air
ventilation system should there be a loss of electrical power.
As shown on the attached map, the generator will be located on the Sylvester Gulch fan shaft
bench to the north of the new Nitrogen Supply facility built last year per MR 353. This 2250 kW
generator, fuel tank, and transformer and control unit are self-contained skid-mounted steel units
that will be set upon a reinforced concrete pad measuring approximately 78' long, 15' wide, and
18" thick. The generator unit will be housed in a 31' long, 10'6" wide, and 12'3" high steel box
housing set atop the double-walled steel fuel tank unit that will measure 34' long, 10'8" wide and
4'10" high. The transformer and control unit for the generator will be set on the slab at the west end
of the generator and tank units. The transformer and control equipment will be housed in a 40'
long, 8' wide and 9'6" high steel box unit.
Another, smaller 50kW control power generator will be mounted on top of a double-walled fuel tank
and will measure 10'9" long, 34" wide and 69" high. This unit will be located on a reinforced
concrete slab measuring 11' long, 4' wide and 12" thick to the west of the shaft #2 motor control
building between the fan intake cones.
MCC would appreciate the Division's assistance in providing reclamation estimates and associated
bond readjustment calculations for this project. Please contact me at (970) 929-2238 or by e-mail
should you have questions regarding this submittal.
Sincerely,
Kathleen G. Welt,
Environmental Engineer I I I
cc: Doug Nolte -MCC
Availability of Records File
Joanne Williams - Gunnison Co.
