Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
I am requesting your assistance in the review of Technical Revision No. 48 (TR-48) for
the Bowie No. 2 Mine. Bowie Resources LLC (BRL) is proposing to revise certain
aspects of the Hubbard Creek vent shaft project that was approved in Technical Revision
No. 47.
Instead of one 12 foot finished diameter shaft, BRL is proposing to drill two 10.5 foot
finished diameter shafts. A temporary mud pit and a rockfall protection berm will also be
constructed. Comparing revised Map 39 with proposed Map 39, the cut slope appears to
be a little steeper in TR-48.
The TR-48 cover letter and revised Map 39 contain a very general reclamation cost
estimate and other more detailed information.
I called TR-48 complete today. BRL would like to have the revision approved in about
one month. I will be in the field August 21 through August 24. If I could have your
responses back by Friday, August 17, that would be great.
Attached is one copy of the TR-48 submittal. If you need anything else, please let me
know. Thanks for your assistance.
Attachments
cc: Sandy Brown (without attachments)
c:/word/bowie2/tr4 8 memo 1
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver - Grand Junction - Durango Active and Inactive Mines
