Existing surface facilities, including the EMD ventilation site, and 18 -Right and 6 -Main North <br /> Ventilation Shafts and associated support facilities, will be used for mining of coal in this part of the NMD permit <br /> area. <br /> WMD (Panels 12- through 17 -Left, 13- and 14 -Left Inby, and 19- through 20 -Left, PR06 -07, PR09 -08, TR07- <br /> 63, TR08 -64, TR09 -68, TR09 -71) <br /> The same mining method utilized in the NMD will be used to extract coal from the WMD. The existing surface <br /> facilities, including the 6 -Main North Ventilation Shaft and associated support facilities, along with the new 18 -Left <br /> Ventilation Installation, will be used for mining of coal in this part of the WMD permit area. <br /> (2) Operation Description <br /> (a) Surface mining. A detailed narrative description and appropriate map(s) prepared in <br /> accordance with 2.10 describing the land to be affected within the permit area according to the proposed sequence <br /> of mining and reclamation. Each narrative and/or map shall include a detailed timetable sufficient to describe the <br /> various mining phases proposed by the applicant. the maximum acreage proposed for each phase of the operations <br /> within the permit area must be specified. <br /> RESPONSE <br /> No surface mining is planned in this application. Therefore, the requirements of this Section are not applicable to <br /> either the Foidel Creek operation or the Fish Creek Tipple operation <br /> • (b) Underground mining. A detailed narrative and appropriate map(s) prepared according to the standards <br /> of 2.10, sufficient to describe all proposed surface disturbances to be associated with the underground <br /> mining activities within the permit area. Each operation plan shall include a narrative, cross - sections, <br /> map(s), and timetable(s) sufficient to describe the areal extent of the proposed underground workings <br /> and the stratum to be affected. <br /> RESPONSE <br /> The mine portals are located in the NE' /NE'/ Section 32, T5N, R86W, Routt County, Colorado. Currently, these <br /> portals are the primary access to the mine for men and materials, utility services, and ventilation. Additionally, <br /> another portal was driven northeast of the original portals, as shown on Map 23, Mine Plan. This portal provides <br /> supplemental access for men, equipment, and supplies into the mine.
