The Chinook unit can provide large lifting capacity and can hover the craft and
can probe with a lowered cable. This service may be used for situations that require
lifting of heavy obstacles in remote locations that cannot be reached by surface vehicles.
Medical Advisor and Emergency Protocol:
It is planned that Sierra Minerals Corporation will retain the services of a
Physician Advisor for the purpose of setting the protocol and limits of the actions of the
Emergency Medical Technician on the quarry site in the event of emergency. The person
to contact is Dr. Paul Sahnen at 970-945-8503.
Hospitals and Medical Clinics:
The following are hospitals and medical clinics that serve the Crystal River
Valley and vicinity. In general, serious injuries will be evacuated by qualified ambulance
and emergency service personnel. Over most of the area covered by this plan, that
service will be provided by the Carbondale Fire Protection District and its ambulance.
The selection of a receiving medical unit will be made by the EMT or doctor in
communication with the EMT on the ambulance, depending upon the situation. For
routine, non-emergency situations that require medical attention, the following contacts
and facility locations are provided:
Hospitals (trauma and major medical)
1. Valley View Hospital (primary)
1906 Blake Avenue
Glenwood Springs, CO
Phone: 970-945-6535
2. Claggett Memorial Hospital
701 East 5h
Rifle, CO
Phone: 970-625-1510
Clinics (minor medical only):
1. Glenwood Medical Associates
1905 Blake Ave.
Glenwood Springs, CO
Phone: 970-945-8503
7
