Colorado Stone Quarries, Inc.
Yule Quarry Operation
SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT
It is the policy and goal of Colorado Stone Quarries, Inc. to conduct a safe and
healthy operation, for activities both on and off the quarry site. It is understood that in
order to meet this goal, all employees must keep safety uppermost in their minds. Each
employee must constantly examine his or her actions and work habits and those of his or
her fellow employees to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Sierra
encourages its employees to notify management, suggest improvements, and take the
initiative so that corrective actions are undertaken where unsafe conditions or activities
occi±r.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN
Introduction
Colorado Stone Quarries has adopted this Emergency Response Plan as prepared
by Sierra Minerals Corporation at the initiation of operations at the Yule Quarry in
August of 1999. This plan is a living document that will undergo revision and updating
periodically as necessary to ensure that it remains an effective tool for informing
employees, both old and new as to the appropriate actions and contacts to be made in
most emergency situations. It should also be understood that not all emergencies can be
foreseen and will not necessarily be identified in the section on "Postulated Events".
However, this section is presented to assist in understanding the appropriate action to take
in those emergencies which are identified as possible.
This plan is a training document. It will be provided to all employees upon hiring
and will be part of required training for all employees. Copies will be kept in all
company vehicles, as well as at the quarry office. It will be provided to the Carbondale
Fire Protection District, the Gunnison County Emergency Services Coordinator, the
District Office of the U. S. Mine Safety and Health Administration and the Colorado
Division of Mines. It will be made available to other appropriate parties upon request.
4
