activity. It is anticipated that the stock ponds in the remainder of the NMD and WMD will react in the same
manner. If cracks develop in the embankments, they can be repaired and regraded to maintain the integrity of
the ponds. Similarly, if differential subsidence results in changes in the elevation of the pond embankments
• relative to the containment basins, minor repairs /reconstruction may be necessary to maintain water storage
capacity and assure the integrity of the embankments.
Monitoring Wells - Active ground water monitoring Wells 97012TC and 97012TM fall within the proposed
mine expansion areas under PRO6 -07, and Alluvial Well 006 -AY1 falls within the mining area for Panel 2 -Left.
The ground water monitoring wells lie directly above the main entries where retention of chain and barrier
pillars will prevent surface subsidence, so these wells should not be impacted by the proposed mining
operations. The alluvial well lies above an area which has been previously mined and subsided and was not
affected.
(c) Subsidence Monitoring Program.
(i) The monitoring program shall be designed to determine the commencement and
magnitude of subsidence movements which occur and shall include the following monitoring techniques:
(A) .Monuments shall be installed and surveyed prior to the commencement
of mining.
(9) Monuments shall be situated to appropriately monitor ground surface
movement, vertical and horizontal, within the area proposed to be undermined, including an area to
accommodate the predicted angle -of- draw.
(C) The orientation. location, and elevation of each structure within the
permit and adjacent area shall be monitored.
• (D) Monitoring of established monuments and structures shall be
.eta :fa ed at least quarterly, commencing one month. prior to the initiation of mining beneath any established
monument or structure.
•
PRO9 -08 2.05- 184.10 04/29/09
