On behalf of Bowie Resources, LLC, (BRL), following are
its responses to the DRMS' comments and concerns.
Ground Water
DRMS - Please provide a plan for incorporating additional ground water monitoring wells at
locations down gradient from the new disturbance/revised mine plan areas proposed with
TR-65. Monitoring wells should be located within the coal seam(s) to be mined and the
saturated zone(s) above the coal seam(s) down gradient of both the main entries beneath
Terror Creek and North Mains mine plan areas. The Hydrologic Monitoring Plan, permit text
and tables should be updated accordingly.
BRL - The discussion on permit application page 2.04-25 explains the difficulty of installing
monitoring wells down gradient of the North Mains mine plan area. DRMS granted relief
from down gradient monitoring wells for the mine plan contemplated by PR-10 and PR-11.
That same relief should be granted for the North Mains mine plan area. BRL will install a
new monitoring well down gradient of the main entries beneath Terror Creek. The location
of the well (2010-1) is shown on Map 9. Amended page 2.04-25 is enclosed.
2. DRMS - Please update the permit document to expand the discussion regarding the
hydraulic isolation of the Rollins sandstone to include the area beneath Terror Creek at the
west end of the permit boundary. BRL should make the case that similar conditions exist
and no additional monitoring is necessary in the Rollins sandstone at the west end of the
permit boundary where new disturbance is proposed with TR-65 (main entries beneath
Terror Creek and North Mains Rooms). To the extent practicable please update appropriate
maps and cross-sections with available geotechnical data or drill log information to
demonstrate the hydraulic isolation of the Rollins sandstone.
