Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
Re: Montoya Pit, Permit M-1980-146, Amendment AM-4, Approval of Request to Extend Decision Date.
Dear Mssrs. Barton and Gilleland,
The Division has received your request for a two-month extension of the decision date for the above-named
amendment application. It is understood that there are several geotechnical stability issues and reclamation plan
questions to be addressed, as well as obtaining the right-of-entry from the BLM, which are the reasons for needing
more time. The Division approves this request, and the decision date is now reset for March 31, 2010.
If responses to the outstanding adequacy items are not received by the close of business on the decision date, the
application may be denied. If additional time is needed to prepare and submit the adequacy responses, you may submit
a written request for another extension. Please specify the length of time being requested. (Note: If the amendment
application is found to be adequate prior to the decision date, the Division may issue its approval prior to the decision
date.)
Two sets of all adequacy responses should be submitted directly to me at the Division's Durango field office: 691 CR
233, Room A-2, Durango, CO 81301; telephone 970-247-5193 and FAX 970-247-5104.
Sincerely,
L
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
Cc: Helen Mary Johnson, BLM Durango
Ec: Steve Shuey, DRMS Grand Junction
(c:\09-11 docs\montoya am-4 ext05 appr/rco)
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
