M-1980-146
REQUEST FOR EXTENSION
Dear sir:
As discussed, we are requesting an extension in order to respond to the most recent comments,
received electronically on 27 January 2010. A additional time is needed to respond and the time
to at least 31 March 2010 is necessary from the current date of 31 January 2010.
As discussed, we have been able to communicate with BLM, and determined that some of the
issues may not be able to be resolved due to changes in regulations and interpretations in
regulations. However, Helen Mary Johnson, the key person in the BLM office, is TDY this
week and will be gone much of February so we do not expect to meet with her until near the end
of February. In our discussions we found several areas in the lease that must be addressed, but
we have to literally go through each piece of land.
As regards the rest of the comments, I do not anticipate any problems with accepting any of
them, and appreciate the detailed response. There are certainly many areas which will require
innovative solutions and great care in addressing, and your suggestions are very valuable.
Although some of the issues cannot be fully and properly addressed until the BLM lease issue is
sorted out, we will respond on as many as we can, fairly quickly, to make sure that we don't get
bogged down at the last minute.
Cordially submitted,

Nathan A. Barton, CE, PE, DEE, Environmental Engineer
FOR C&J GRAVEL PRODUCTS, INC. Applicant and Operator
