Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
Twentymile Coal Company (TCC) submitted Fourth Quarter 2009, Pond Inspection Reports on January 13,
2010. The ponds were inspected December 22, and 30, 2009. Ponds D, G, Area 1 Pit, Wastewater
treatment ponds No. 1 and No. 2, were discharging during the inspection. Waste Water treatment pond No.
3 had a frozen head gate. TCC had place stockwater tank heaters over the head gate to thaw it out.
Pond D had undergone repairs to the riser during the fourth quarter 2009. TCC needs to submit an
engineer's certification that the repairs to the riser are still in agreement with the approved design (As-
built). Most of the ponds were frozen and snow covered. Please include quarterly inspection reports for
the 6MN Mine Water Reservoir too.
The reports are in compliance with Rule 4.05.6(13). Thank you for prompt submittal of these reports.
Sincerely,
Protection Specialist II
4th Q 2009.doc
Office of
Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
