(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: U-1920-191
INSPECTION DATE: 1.497.410 INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: -MAC
OBSERVATIONS
The inspection was conducted by Michael Cunningham of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
(Division). Greg Nelson of Weld County was also present for the inspection. The Pierce Pit is located
approximately 2 miles north east of Pierce, Colorado. The site is permitted for 56.50 acres and the post-mining
land use is wildlife habitat.
The permit sign was posted at the entrance to the site and the affected area was clearly delineated per Rule
3.1.12. No mining was taking place at the time of the inspection. According to the Operator, the site has not
been mined since 2006. However, the site has remained active through the regular removal of product from
stockpiles. The Operator should be aware that all reclamation must be completed within 5 years from the date
mining ceases and reclamation commences as required by Rule 3.1.3.
The pit slopes in the northern half of the sib e have been reclaimed to 3H:1 V or flatter. The topsoil has been
replaced and vegetated. A stand of cottonwoods has volunteered at the north end of the site and will provide
valuable habitat for wildlife. The remaining reclamation at the site includes:
1. Replacing topsoil on southern pit slopes.
2. Revegetating southern pit slopes.
3. Grading and revegetating portions of the pit floor.
This concluded the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Greg Nelson
OPERATOR: - _Weld County
STREET: 1111 H Street
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Greeley Cn ROA39
