6. The stability analysis performed by the Division indicates a slope failure when the profile is analyzed with the second
silt and clay layer at the proposed 37 foot offset. The profile was analyzed with the proposed 82 foot offset from the
adjacent fence line and indicated safety factor was above 1.00 and therefore acceptable to the Division (see attached).
See response for number 5.
7. Please indicate the location of PA04-131-108 on Figure No. 1- Parsons Mine - Borings used for stability analysis.
The boring location shows on the site plan prepared by Lafarge dated 1110112004 submitted with the boring
information. It is approximately 200 feet ENE of Boring PA04-BH11
8. Please provide the source of the ground water data for Borings PA04-131-108 and PA04-13H11.
Exhibit G indicates the groundwater level in MW-07 was approximately 9 feet below the ground surface during the
monitoring period. Based on this information a depth to groundwater of 9 feet was incorporated in our analysis.
9. Please explain the difference in piezometric surface elevation between the stability analysis for PA04-BH011 used for
4A and 4C.
The piezometric surface used in the analysis of 4C incorporated information from MW-12 and MW-13. When the water
level is raised to the highest level recorded (see Exhibit G) the proposed set back distance still has a factor of Safety above
1.00 (see attached).
Scott Palmer, P.E.
Deere & Ault Consultants
600 South Airport Rd., Bldg A, Suite 205
Longmont, CO 80503
scott.palm er(a,deereault. com
ph 303-651-1468
fax 303-651-1469
