ARKINS PARK STONE
WEED CONTROL PLAN
During an inspection of the Arkins Park Stone quarry, conducted by the State of Colorado on
December 16, 2009, it was discovered that Diffuse Knapweed (Centaurea diffusa) was present
on the quarry property. Diffuse knapweed is considered a noxious weed and the State has thus
mandated its removal. The following steps will be taken to remove the Diffuse Knapweed and
control its growth and spreading.
Immediately, the mine owner will train personnel on the recognition and removal of Diffuse
Knapweed. The crew will walk the mine site and manually pull the weeds, collecting and
disposing of them in plastic garbage bags. A map will be maintained of the areas from which the
weed is removed. Around May, 2010, the mine owner will work with the Larimer County Weed
District to spray the rosettes. Th_ej?lan is t9 §p ay using a combination of Redeem (48 ounces to
the acre mixed with Squire) and Tordon. Subsequently, the mine owner will monitor the quarry
site and spot spray as needed.
