PUBLIC NOTICE <br />Bowie Resources, LLC, Box 483, Paonia, Colorado, 81428, has filed with the Division <br />of Reclamation, Mining and Safety a complete application for a technical revision for its <br />Bowie No. 1 Mine permit No. C-1981-038. The proposed revision will allow the <br />cessation of quarterly inspections of the west ridge coal mine waste disposal site. <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety rules state that inspections may terminate <br />when the coal mine waste bank has been graded, covered, topsoil has been distributed <br />on the waste bank and revegetated. During 2008 the open areas of the west ridge coal <br />mine waste disposal site were graded, covered, plated with topsoil and seeded. The <br />vegetative cover on the 2008 reclaimed areas is fair to good. The vegetative cover on <br />the previously reclaimed areas is good to excellent. Therefore, quarterly inspections of <br />the west ridge coal mine waste bank can be terminated. <br />The Bowie No. 1 Mine is located in Delta County, approximately four (4) miles north of <br />Paonia, CO. The Bowie No. 1 Mine loadout is located in Delta County approximately <br />one mile east of Paonia, CO south of State Highway 133. The surface facilities, located <br />north of the North Fork of the Gunnison River, are located in portions of Sections 23 <br />and 24, Township 13 South Range 92 West; and Section 29, Township 13 South, <br />Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. The mine permit area is located on the U.S. Geological <br />Survey 7.5 minute Bowie and Gray Reservoir, Colorado Quadrangle maps within the <br />following sections. <br />Township 13 South, Range 92 West, 6"' P.M. <br />Sections: 1, 2, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, 24 and 25 <br />Township 13 South, Range 91 West, 6"' P.M. <br />Sections: 5, 6, 7, 8, 17, 18, 19, 29, 30, 31, and 32 <br />containing 8,670 acres more or less. <br />The Bowie No. 1 Mine permit area contains 8,670 acres of land, 6,752 acres of private <br />surface and 1,918 acres of Federal surface. Private minerals within the proposed <br />permit area encompass 1,433 acres with Federal minerals accounting for the balance <br />of 7,237 acres. <br />A copy of the proposed revision is available for public inspection at the Paonia Public <br />Library, 2 Third Street, Paonia, CO, and at the Denver and Durango offices of the <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety [Room 215, 1313 Sherman St., Denver, CO <br />80203, (303) 866-3567; and 691 CR 233, Suite A-2, Durango, CO 81301, (970) 247- <br />1184]. Written comments regarding this application may be submitted to and additional <br />information may be obtained from the Denver office of Division of Reclamation, Mining <br />and Safety.
