(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1989-004
INSPECTION DATE: 1/14/10 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: FCS
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection for the Raymond Duell Pit, M-1989-004, a Kit Carson County 110c
sand and gravel permit, conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS. DRMS traveled with Kit Carson Road and Bridge
representative Walt Isenbart to the site and observed the site with him at approximately 0900. The permit sign
was present and in good condition. No permit boundary markers were able to be located. The permit boundary
markers will need to be replaced as appropriate to define the permitted area.
Kit Carson County currently has 9.1 acres permitted at this location. The County may wish to amend the
permitted area to the maximum allowable 9.9 acres under a 110c permit. It was observed that mining was
taking place well within 200' of an overhead power line. The County will need to obtain a damage waiver
agreement with the power company for their activities because they are within 200 feet of man-made structures
as stated in section 6.3.12 of the rule.
No other issues were observed during this inspection.
Photo 1 - Overview of Raymond Duell Pit taken near existing stockpile of material looking west. Note
overhead power lines along west edge of disturbed area.
