(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1991-071
INSPECTION DATE: 1/13/10 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection for the Bohnen Pit, a Kit Carson County 110c sand and gravel permit,
conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS. DRMS traveled with Kit Carson Road and Bridge representative Walt
Isenbart to the site, and observed the site with him at approximately 1250. There were no permit boundary
markers present at the site. This Bohnen Pit permit M-1991-071 which is currently an active site is located
immediately south of and adjacent to the Bohnen Pit permit M-1989-081 which is currently being reclaimed.
Kit Carson County has 9.9 acres currently permitted at this location. However the extent of the permit area was
not marked at the time of the inspection. Permit boundary markers will need to be put into place as appropriate
to define the site. The only other issue noted during this inspection, is that almost the entire active area is
directly beneath a significant power line (see photo). The County will need to obtain a damage waiver
agreement with the power company for their activities because they are within 200 feet of a man-made structure
as stated in section 6.3.12 of the rule. No other issues were observed during this inspection.

Photo 1- representative photo of active Bohnen Pit taken from east end of pit looking west. Note almost all
activity is immediately under power lines.
