(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-2006-047
INSPECTION DATE: 1/14/10 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS _
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection for the Klassen Pit, M-2006-047, a Kit Carson County 110c sand and
gravel permit, conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS. DRMS traveled with Kit Carson Road and Bridge
representative Walt Isenbart to the site, and observed the site with him at approximately 0820. No permit sign
or permit boundary markers were observed. The permit identification sign and boundary markers will need to
be replaced as appropriate to define the permitted area.
Kit Carson County currently has 7.5 acres permitted at this location. The county may wish to amend the permit
to the full 9.9 acres allowable under the 110c permit. Water was present in the bottom of the pit and was
believed to have entered the pit from the intermittent stream immediately east of the excavation. A berm or
other diversion structure should be put into place along the east side of the permit to prevent the pit from
capturing water during future storm runoff events.
No other issues were observed during this inspection.
Photo 1 - Overview of Klassen Pit taken from east side of pit looking west.
